Attendance

The importance of a high level of attendance by all students cannot be emphasized enough; it is the key to progress and to good examination results.

We set pupils a target of at least 95% attendance and parent’s co-operation is expected in the achievement of this target. We encourage pupils to meet this target by awarding certificates for 95% and 100% attendance for each term. Certificates are also awarded for 95% and 100% attendance for a complete academic year.

Absence

  • Parents are responsible for ensuring that all students attend school regularly and punctually.
  • Parents must telephone the school on the first day their child is absent on the direct line for their child's year:

          For Year 7 ring:      01255 233717                   For Year 8 ring:        01255 233718

          For Year 9 ring:      01255 233719                   For Year 10 ring:      01255 233710

          For Year 11 ring:    01255 233711                   For Sixth Form ring:   01255 233712

  • Absence from school is always followed up.
  • Please provide us with a letter confirming the reason for your child’s absence.

Permission for absence for reasons other than illness should be sought from the Headteacher. In particular, parents should apply to the school for holiday leave if it is essential to have a family holiday during term time (forms available from Year Offices). If a child needs to be absent for a reason other than illness, and this is known in advance, it is helpful if parents inform the School prior to the absence. Other letters concerning absence should be addressed to the Pastoral Support Manager / Assistant.
