The Governing Body of Colbayns High School has a range of powers and responsibilities which it is legally required to carry out, working in a close and balanced partnership with the Headteacher and staff, to ensure that the school runs effectively to provide the best possible education for all it’s students. These responsibilities include:
  • helping to develop school policies and development plans;
  • setting appropriate targets for School Development;
  • ensuring that the school has a proper discipline and rewards procedure;
  • ensuring that the National Curriculum is delivered;
  • overseeing the efficient and effective use of the school's budget;
  • acting as a link with the local community;
  • ensuring the appointment of properly qualified staff;
  • implementing Performance Related Pay in schools.

Detailed work is carried out in five Committees (Personnel, Buildings & Grounds, Finance, Curriculum and Parent & Community). There is a meeting of the full Governors' Committee every term. In addition, as individuals, Governors visit the school on a regular basis.

The Chairman of the Governors, Mr J Curry, can be contacted through the school.
